I just finished co-presenting at the local Humanist group I belong to. The topic was about artificial intelligence (AI), and how it's going to kill us all the pros and cons of this rapidly emerging technology.
I'm by no means an expert on this topic, but we're a small folksy group and we only meet for an hour. Anyway, we were pretty much in agreement that:
- This technology can be used to enormous good;
- This technology is growing/learning/expanding far faster than we can contain or control;
- This technology will likely kill us all
The "truth" is most likely a combination of all three. Anyway, more on this later.
